I found this Woodhouse's toad at least a half mile out on the exposed floor of drained Prewitt Reservoir one fall. He must have traveled out there at night.

2009 ia an extremely wet year in NE Colorado. It's been a great year for reproduction in the one-season amphibians such as toads and leopard frogs. By August 1, there are little, newly-metamorphosed froglets and toadlets all over the countryside.
