Photographing whitetails is difficult in their favorite habitat - thick woods and underbrush - but once in awhile you catch them so far out in the open they have no place to hide.

CAUGHT IN THE OPEN

A good-sized whitetail buck and a mature doe, driven off the river bottoms by hunters, are caught out on open prairie with no place to go.

Numerous rubs and scrapes along the South Platte River attest to the very high population of deer (two species) in Morgan County.
