When house wrens first arrive in Morgan County around April 21st, they are quiet and unobtrusive. Within about 2 weeks the hormones of spring kick in and, from that point forward into July, they seldom shut up. They sing and scold constantly.

UNCOOPERATIVE HOUSE WREN

Wrens are cryptically colored and expert skulkers. Consequently they are very difficult to catch in position for a photograph. I finally caught this house wren out in the open, but he blinked just as I snapped the shutter!
