BANK SWALLOW CONDOS

Bank swallows are the least common and most localized of high plains nesting swallows. Unused gravel pits large enough to accomodate large colonies are their favorite real estate.

Bank swallows are easily mistaken for rough-winged swallows and vice versa. Look for a clean brown collar across the top of the chest.

BANK SWALLOWS WORKING ON THEIR HOMES

Bank swallows are usually concentrated in large colonies in banks of suitable substrate. This colony south of Fort Morgan contains between 75 and 100 pairs in 2009.
