BRANDT'S CORMORANT PARTIALLY SUBMERGED

Brandt's cormorant is one of the three cormorant species that nest along the California Coast. Non-breeding yearling birds are common south of Point Loma at the mouth of San Diego Harbor.

BASKING BRANDT'S CORMORANTS

A series of floats anchored off the north shore of the San Diego Bay channel south of Point Loma serve as a basking place for California sea lions as well as a loafing spot for several species of herons, gulls, and cormorants.
