EASTERN KINGBIRD IN HIGH BREEDING PLUMAGE

Morgan County has two breeding kingbird species. The eastern kingbird is less common than the abundant western kingbird. We see migrating Cassin's kingbirds for a brief time every spring and fall.

In Colorado the western kingbird is the more tolerant of human activity, frequently nesting in yards and even in urban situations. The eastern kingbird is more of a purist, preferring natural habitats, pastures, and fields.
