FOX SQUIRREL IN SIBERIAN ELM TANGLE
Fox squirrels were introduced to eastern Colorado by earlier settlers. They might have eventually arrived on their own via the riparian bridge created by elimination of the bison and the taming of the South Platte.

MAKING TRACKS
Lack of nut trees does not seem to hamper fox squirrel abundance. They feed on mushrooms, various tree and weed seeds, inner bark, and anything else they can find.
