A COUPLE OF TOWNIES
In December, 2008 Nancy and I came upon a small herd of bull elk just outside Estes Park, Colorado. They were very habituated to humans and mostly ignored myself and one other observer.

SIX BY SIX
Many hunters long to have a rack like this hanging in their den. I call it "antler envy." With my camera I was able to shoot every animal in the herd and within the city limits.

SPIKE BULL
A yearling male elk may grow antlers ranging from 5" stubs to 30" poles adorned with several short points. Collectively yearling males are called "spike bulls."
