HUNTING CRAYFISH

Once in a while the photographer gets lucky and happens upon an elusive critter in the open in broad daylight. This young coon was hunting crayfish in the tall grass along the South Platte below the Narrows Bridge in Morgan County at 11 in the morning.

I have Joe Rigli's sharp eyes to thank for this shot. Joe spotted this family of raccoons well up in a cottonwood tree as we drove past near Jackson Lake.
