Pied-billed grebe
Pied-billed grebes are much more solitary than most grebes and they occupy smaller ponds and marshes. They are the only dark-eyed grebes in Colorado.

Pied-billed grebe - the dipper-duck
Pied-billed grebes can simply sink from sight by compressing their feathers. Its an often-told tale that these "dipper-ducks" can outdive the blast of a shotgun.
