YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRDS - NEW ARRIVALS

During the first two weeks or so of the yellow-headed blackbirds' return to Morgan County, the birds continue to flock and feed in fields and stubble before moving into the cattail marshes to breed.

Yellow-heads arrive well after red-winged blackbirds have set up shop. Their habitat preference is deep-water cattails and the larger yellow-heads bully the red-wings out of those areas causing ageneral shift of the red-winged population.
